The #LovellFire has been called controlled today at 12:20 pm.  Fire will be monitored until called out.

Update: 5/29/2021 9:00 pm
The #LovellFire was called contained at 7:55 pm at 1/3 acre in size.  Crews have left the incident and will be staffing the fire in the morning.

Cheyenne Fire

Time Reported: 5/23/2121 at 15:52 pm,

  • Size:  acre, fire is creeping and smoldering
  • Location: El Paso County, west of Colo Springs, CO. back side of Cheyenne Mt.
  • Jurisdiction: USFS,
  • Resources:  USFS, CSFD and El Paso County, Type 3 Helicopter
  • Containment: 100 % @ 11:00 am 5/25/2021
  • Controlled:  5/27/2021 @ 4 pm for 1 acre
  • Structures Threatened: N\A
  • Evacuation: N\A
  • Closures: none
  • Cause: Lighting
  • Fuels: Timber, mixed conifer

Update 5/25/21  12:40 pm
The #CheyenneFire was called 100 % contained at 11:00 am.  Firefighters are putting out all hot shots (mopping up) within the perimeter.

Update 5/24/21  8:30 pm
All USFS, El Paso County and CSFD resources are off the #CheyenneFire in route to their duty stations.  USFS crews will staff the fire in the morning.

Update 5/24/21  7:30 pm
Resources continuing to strengthen and improve fireline. Colorado Springs FD firefighters are released.  Forest Service crews will be on the incident until 8:00 pm and will be returning in the morning,









Update 5/24/21  5:15 pm
The #CheyenneFire Incident Commander reported the cause to be lighting and is now 1 acre in size.  Firefighters are currently constructing fireline to gain containment.

Update 5/24/21  4:44 pm
The #CheyenneFire is lees than a acre in size, with 30 firefighters committed to the incident.  Firefighters are accessing the fire by foot and UTV's.  There is a water resource near by and will be used to suppress the fire.

56 Fire

Time Reported: 5/1/2121 at 11:56 am

  • Size: 45 acres
  • Location: Park County Road 56/ FS Rd 130, 4.2 mi E of Jefferson, CO
  • Jurisdiction: USFS,
  • Resources: Engines and hand-crew from USFS and Local VFD, one Large Airtanker (LAT) two Single Engine Air Tankers (SEAT) & Type 2 Helicopter
  • Containment: 100%
  • Controlled:  
  • Structures Threatened: N\A
  • Evacuation: N\A
  • Closures: none
  • Cause: Human under investigation. 
  • Fuels: Grass and Timber

Update: 5/3/2021 3:30 pm
The #56 Fire received several inches of snow, firefighters will be patrolling the fire as needed. 

Update: 5/2/2021 4:30 pm
The #56 Fire is now 100% contained, all resources have been released. Fire will be in patrolled status.

Update: 5/2/2021 11:30 am
The #56 Fire is now 70% contained, firefighters still constructing and improving fireline.  All aviation resources have been released. 


Update: 5/2/2021 8:30 am
Fighters consisting of engines and squads are continuing to construct and improve fireline on the #56 Fire. Fire is still at 45 acres with a 50% containment.  No aviation resources ordered at this time.   

Update: 5/1/2021 8:10 pm
Firefighters will be staffing the fire through out the night, #56 fire is now 50% contained.  Aircraft are released for the night but are available tomorrow if needed.
