- Closures: None at this time but we ask the public to please stay out of the area to allow for fire resources to get to the fire.

- Fuels: Grass and Ponderosa Pine

Update 4:30pm 4/11/23 - The Rampart fire is burning in the old Waldo Canyon Burn Scar and is currently burning in grass and Ponderosa Pine. One Single Engine Air Tanker has been assisting firefighters on scene with water drops.
Update: 5pm 4/11/23 - Fire activity has settled some and smoke coming from the fire is lighter. Crews continue to work to slow the forward spread of the fire and create firelines around the fire. See below for aerial photo taken from the Multi-Mission Aircraft (MMA) at 4:30pm.
Update 5:30pm 4/11/23 - Crews have placed fire hose all the way around the fire. Crews will continue working and utilizing water to cool the edges of the fire in an effort to contain the Rampart Fire. Fire is still estimated to be 20 acres.
Update: 6:30pm 4/11/23 - Fire activity has greatly decreased on the Rampart Fire as crews are making good progress with securing the fire lines around the fire. Updated pictures below show decreased fire in fire behavior.
Update: 9:00pm 4/11/23 – Firefighters will be staffing the
Rampart Fire overnight. Engines will work on patrolling and securing the fires
edge. An order for additional resources has been placed to support suppression
efforts for tomorrow. The Rampart Fire remains at 20 acres.
Update: 8:30am 4/12/2023 – Resources made progress last
night. Crews will continue to build fire line around the perimeter to reach
full containment. Expect to see smoke today since heavy fuels are still burning
interior. High winds are expected and a red flag warning has been issued. Photo below shows lingering smoke that has settled overnight.
Update: 4:30pm 4/12/2023 – Rampart fire reaches 50% containment.
Crews worked purposefully, securing the fire line, and mopping up 100ft
interior from the line. Light smoke is still visible off the 300 Road due to heavy
fuels burning well interior from the perimeter. Photo below shows area of the fire that has been moped up.
Update: 10:30am 4/13/2023 – Rampart fire remains at 50% contained. There are three engines, and one squad supporting suppression efforts. The fire has changed complexity levels from a type 4 incident to a type 5 incident. Operations will continue to mop up interior hot spots and secure the fire line. Pictures below show little to no heat near the fire line.
Update: 6:30pm 4/13/2023 - Rampart Fire is 20 acres and 100% contained. Fire line has been constructed all around the fire and tied into the road. Crews secured the perimeter by extinguishing hotspots. Crews will continue to patrol the fire as interior heavy fuels may still be smoldering.
Update: 9am 4/17/2023- Over the weekend the Rampart Fire received a few inches of precipitation, shown in the pictures below. Crews continue to check the fire for any hotspots, using the moisture to help with mop up operations. Once no smoke or heat is identified they will call the fire controlled and out.
