Resources from Lake County quickly responded to the Crystal Lake fire and quickly contained and controlled fire fire. 



Rosemont Fire

The Rosemont Fire was reported to the US Forest Service on Thursday 4/17/25. The fire was reportedly put out several days prior to it being reported to the Forest Service. Upon the report, a Forest Service engine responded and confirmed the fire was controlled and out.

The lightning caused Carrizo Swing fire was qickly controlled by local fire resources at 4 acres.

Fire Activity 4.12.2025

 Turkey Track Fire

  • Location:  Pikes Peak Ranger District, approx. 8 miles north of Woodland Park, CO, Douglas County 
  • Jurisdiction: US Forest Service 
  • Resources: Engines from US Forest Service, Teller County, Douglas County. 1 small hand crew and engines from Colorado Department of Fire Prevention and Control. 1 Helicopter is available if needed.

  • Closures: Turkey Track shooting area near the fire is currently closed for firefighter and public safety

Update 4/14/2025 6:30pm: Crews made great progres today bringing the containment of the Turkey Track Fire to 100%. Please use caution as firefighters will still be in the area patrolling. 

Update 4/14/2025 9:00am: The Turkey Tracks fire remains 128 acres and 45% contained. Today crews will continue to strenthen firelines and mop up hotspots near those firelines. There are still some stumps and downed logs that continue to smolder and crews will continue to work on extinguising all the heat in those to prevent embers from being blown across the firelines. Despite forecasted rain and snow, the Turkey Tracks area recived no moisture overnight in the form of rain however cooler temperatures and high humitidies this morning will help firefighters today. A reminder that the area is closed to shooting for the safety of the public and firefighters. 

Update 4/13/25 5:45: Crews continue to make progress on the Turkey Track Fire and the Incident Commander has increased the containment to 45%

Update 4/13/2025 11:00am: All firelines continue to hold as firefighters make progress strengthening the firelines. The Incident Commander has now called the Turkey Track fire 30% contained. Smoke will remain visible throughout the day as there are still pockets of heat inside the fire perimeter. Firefighters and fire equipment are on the road so we ask people lease remain cautious when driving on highway 67 in that area. 

Update 4/13/2025 8:00am: No new growth on the Turkey Track fire overnight and the fire remains 128 acres. Per the Incident Commander, the fire is still 0% contained. Today, crews will continue to strengthen firelines and mop up hostpots near those lines. Additional crews from Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control are on scene assisting today. Another day of red flag conditions forecasted for today will test the firelines and the Incident Commander will revaluate the containment later this afternoon. After the red flag conditions, rain turning to snow is forecasted for the area however we ask people to remain vigilant with anything that can start a fire today. The shooting area remains close for public and firefighter safety. 

Update 4/12/2025 10:00pm: The Turkey Tracks fire is still 128 acres and remains 0% contained. Night shift crews will work through the night to secure the fires edge to prevent further spread of the fire and more crews are on order for tomorrows day shift. The cause of the fire is under investigation and we ask the public to be mindful of any actions that may cause a wildfire whether they are at home or enjoying our federal lands. 

Update 4/12/2025 8:10pm: The Colorado Multi-Mission Aircraft (MMA) mapped the fire to be 128 acres. Crews continue to have success keeping the fire on the west side of highway 67. 

Update 4/12/2025 7:25pm: Firefighters are working with the helicopter and the fire remains on the west side of highway 67. Douglas County Sheriff's Office has ordered the evacuation of campers in the area and all evacuation information can be found on their X https://x.com/dcsheriff . We ask people to stay out of the area and use caution driving on highway 67 in this area north of Woodland Park. Smoke, firefighters and fire equipment will likely be on the roads. 

Initial Update: Firefighters from the US Forest Service, Teller and Douglas Counties are on scene of the Turkey Tracks Fire. One helicopter is on order. Fire is estimated to be 150 acres and smoke may impact highway 67. Please use caution on hwy 67 in this area and please stay out of the Turkey Track area until the fire is controlled.
