Update 7/31/2023 @10:00 am:  Due to the incoming predicted weather of precipitation and lighting plus the extensive hike,  the fire will not be staffed today.  Expecting low fire behavior. The #SchoolCreekFire_CO will be observed through out the day for any fire behavior changes.

Update: 7/28/2023 4:30 pm - Crews are on scene of the Big Wall Fire and have determined the cause to be lightning. Firefighters will work on constructing fire line around the fires edge and suppress interior heat. The fire has a low spread potential as it is smoldering and creeping in heavy dead and downed timber. The area around the Big Wall fire is receiving light precipitation which aids in fire suppression.

Update 7/25/2023 9 :00 am - US Forest Service firefighters and Monument Fire department were quick to respond and extinguish the Mount Herman Fire. The fire is within the Mount Herman mastication unit, which aided suppression efforts and slowed the growth of the fire.

Update 7/25/2023 12:30 pm: Crews have completed a saw line around the perimeter of the fire. Firefighters will continue securing the fires edge and proceeding with mop up efforts, some interior heat is present but little to no smoke is visible. The May Fire remains at .25 acre. 

Update 7/25/2023 10:00 am:  There was no growth to the fire overnight, fire crews are making their way into the incident and will continue with suppressions efforts on the May Fire.  

Update 7/24/2023 6 pm: A DFPC helicopter is assisting firefighters with bucket drops of water, cooling the fire while firefighters continue to hike into the remote location of the fire. Crews will continue to utilize the helicopter to support their suppression efforts this evening as daylight allows. The Incident Commander of the May Fire and the US Forest Service would like to thank DFPC, Hwy 115 Fire Protection District, and Ft Carson Fire for their quick mutual aid response.
