• Burning near the Ben Tyler trail in the Lost Creek Wilderness 6 miles west of Bailey
• Lightning-caused
• Estimate 1/4 acre in size
• Division Supervisor, Batallion Chief and one Forest Service engine and crew responded.
• Assisted by South Platte Fire Department
• Firefighters are hiking in to the fire

• Savage Fire contained today at 11:00 a.m.
• Firefighting was a combined effort of the Beulah and Red Creek Fire organizations and the U.S. Forest Service
• No new fires reported today as of 4:30 p.m.

Update:

Savage Fire
Forest Service is aware and responding to smoke near Little Red Butte on San Carlos Ranger District. 

• Reported 5:35 p.m. on 8/17
• Beulah Fire Protection and Ambulance District, Red Creek Volunteer Fire and Rescue and USFS Engine and module responded.
• 2-person module and Engine on scene
• FS Helicopter reconnaisance and subsequent water drops
• Approx. one acre lightning-caused
• Smoke visible from Pueblo, to the southwest 
• Burning in grass, pinyon-juniper and ponderosa slash

 update 8 a.m. 8/18: 

• fire fighters remained on scene overnight 8/17 to continue control 8/18

update 11 a.m 8/18:

• measured at 1/2 acre
• burning in the old Mason Fire burned area
• heavy fuels still smoldering
• firefighters expect to completed containment line within an hour
• currently mopping up, using helicopter water drops as needed

Hayden Pass

• Yesterday's fire activity had minimal smoke showing in the Black Mountain area and additionally on Middle Ridge which runs off the summit of Nipple Mountain. Smoke was light and intermittent with the exception of a few hours in the early afternoon where there was light, consistent smoke from Middle Ridge. This area is consistent with the concentration of heat that was indicted by the most recent infrared mapping in that area. 
  
  
  Crews focused on the Rainbow Lake area, doing riparian/forbs plots in the vicinity of the lake. Surveying was done on the species and health of trees in the area. Crews also surveyed a radio facility north of the fire area. Rehabilitation from firefighting efforts was accomplished there.

Experimental

• Reported 3:05 pm on 8/16
• Located near Hwy 67 on Mantiou Experiment Forest
• Initial response by Pikes Peak RD forces and a type 3 helicopter
• Approx. 1/10 acre
• Helicopter preforming bucket drops
• Update: fire now contained at 6:00 p.m.

Trout Creek

• Reported at 7:36 p.m on 8/15
• Located near Hwy 67 South of mile marker 91
• Initial attack by West Creek Fire Department
• Approx. 1/2 acre
• Lightning-caused
• Support from South Platte Ranger District Engine E-11
• Contained by fire line at 10:45 p.m
• Firefighters hiking in this morning from Hwy 67 to drop the single snag and mop up
• Firefighters continue mopping up the 1/2 acre Trout Creek Fire. South Platte Ranger District firefighters were relieved by Pikes Peak Ranger District firefighters.
• Update:  now controlled at 12:14 pm. Final size determined to be 1/10 acre.

Fire Activity 8.15.2016

As of 6:00 p.m today it has been a relatively quiet day at Pueblo Interagency Dispatch Center. We very much appreciate the recreating public's cooperation and vigilance in using campfires responsibly, especially in these windy conditions. 

Fire Activity 8.14.2016 

Our hearts, prayers and thoughts go out to the family and fellow Lolo Hotshot Crew members of Justin Beebe, the Forest Service firefighter killed yesterday by a falling snag while engaging a fire at Great Basin National Park in Nevada.

No activity on the Forest as of 10:45 today.  There were many lightning strikes yesterday evening, so patrols are keeping a watchful eye to see if anything develops as the day heats up.

Fire Activity 8.13.2016

No new fire activity on Forest as of 10:30 am.

UPDATE: A Forest Service Engine and local resources responded to #Goosecreek Goose Creek Fire on the So. Platte District at 1500 hours today. It is 1/10th acre in size, burning in grass. Smoldering, creeping.  Northwest of Cheesman Reservoir on FSR 211.  6 miles west of Deckers, CO.  CONTAINED at 1535 hours today.

CONTROLLED at 1644 hours. Nice work crew.

Afternoon winds are picking up on the Hayden Pass Fire.  Winds can cause dust devils that appear to be smoke. #HaydenPassFire

Swan

• Approximately 1/2 mile N of Buffalo Creek
• Reported: 5:56 pm, Initial Response: 6:08 pm
• Burning in heavy dead and downed Ponderosa Pine and Douglas Fir.
• Size .5 acres
• Jurisdiction: State Land
• Resources on Scene: USFS, North Fork Fire, and Jefferson County Sheriffs Office
• Smoke visible from Buffalo Creek, Pine Grove, CR 126 and CR 97
• No structures threatened 
• Crews from USFS and North Fork Fire are constructing fireline around the fire.  Fire is still .5 acres in size.
