Fire Activity 07.26.16

As of 3:15 pm there have been no confirmed fire reports on the PSICC today.

Here is some updated information about fires that were reported on in the recent past:

252 Fire
  • The 252 Fire was a "campfire" that was contained yesterday (07.25.16).  
  • The public is reminded that Stage I Fire Restrictions are in place and even when those restrictions are lifted, it is never ok to build your campfire in the grass.  By building your campfire without a fire ring or area clear of vegetation, you are essentially creating a wildfire as there is no way to keep the fire in check.

  • Here are some recent pictures of  the Sheep Mountain Fire which was reported on 07.21.16.
  • The fire is located 8 miles WSW of Buena Vista, CO and was caused by lightning.
  • Due to the steep, inaccessible terrain, fire managers are frequently checking this fire by air.
